Beaver Dam Holiday Parade Includes Coloring, Window Decorating Contests

11/6/17 – Organizers with the annual Beaver Dam Holiday Parade say there will be plenty of opportunities to enjoy the festivities this year. The theme is “Light Up the Holidays” and the parade will be held in the downtown area on Saturday, December 2 at 5:30pm. As usual, there will be a coloring contest open to local first-through-fifth graders with the winners taking part in the parade and will be recognized at the after party. Event planner Bev Beal-Loeck says the coloring contest will be expanding this year to include middle and high school students as well as adults over 18. She says the forms are located at the middle school, high school, Don Smith Learning Academy, Black Waters Coffee, and the Watermark. Loeck says the middle and high school forms will be easier to color than the adult form. She says they are due by November 17 with prizes being awarded to the first, second, and third place finishers.

The window decorating contest for downtown businesses will also be returning this year. Organizer Betty Reals says all the windows should be decorated by December 2. She says the goal is to focus on the most creative use of lights rather than who uses the most. The displays will be judged on December 15 and the winners will be announced on the WBEV Morning Show the following week. The deadline to enter a float in the parade is November 17. Entry forms are available at the Beaver Dam Chamber of Commerce office and online at the Downtown Beaver Dam website. A link can be found here: www.bddowntown.com.
