(Beaver Dam) Organizers with Beaver Dam’s annual Holiday Parade have cancelled this year’s event. Bev Beal-Loeck with Downtown Beaver Dam Inc. says the hope was to have a reverse parade this year, with floats lined up along Front Street and spectators in their vehicles driving by. Beal-Loeck says the decision to cancel this year was made because of the impact of COVID along with the concerns and restrictions it caused, resulting in low entry numbers.
She says the committee wants the community to enjoy a great parade and that type of wonderful experience is just not possible this year. Families will still be able to visit with Santa Claus during his traditional visit to Beaver Dam on the first Saturday of the month. Santa will be at the BMO Bank drive-thru from 5:30pm to 7pm on December 5. Each car will also receive a bag of treats to share from Santa. The downtown group is still holding its Coloring Contest for kids and adults throughout Dodge County.
That deadline has been extended until December 14. Coloring pages and entry forms are available to pick up at area grocery stores including Rechek’s and Piggly Wigglys in Beaver Dam, Juneau, Mayville, Randolph and Waupun. There are no changes to the downtown Window Decorating Contest. Businesses need to register by Monday and finish decking out their store fronts by December 1 with judging beginning on December 2. This year’s theme “Let the Holidays Sparkle.”
