(Beaver Dam) Two seniors at Beaver Dam High School are being honored in the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program. Elise Zahs and Nathan Stafford were recently presented with a Letter of Commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Program in recognition of their academic success. These local seniors will join about 34,000 students throughout the nation being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Commended students place among the top 50,000 scorers of the more than 1.5 million students who enter into the competition by taking the 2018 preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
A spokesperson for the National Merit Scholarship Corporation says, “Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success. These students represent a valuable national resource, recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development is vital to the advancement of education excellence in our nation.”
