Beaver Dam High School Bowling Update

The Beaver Dam High School Bowling teams competed Sunday 12/29 at the Weston Winter Classic at Dale’s Weston Lanes in Wausau, WI. After the qualifying round the girls were seeded 2nd for match play while the boys grabbed the 8th and final seed for the double elimination stepladder bracket. The boys dropped to the 1 seeded Antigo pushing them to the elimination bracket vs. Stevens Point. After losing that match by just 14 pins the Beaver Boys were eliminated. The girls cruised through the first two matches against New London and Merrill/Tomahawk to face the 1 seeded DC Everest/Wittenburg in match 3 with the winner advancing to the championship match. They dropped that decision by just 18 pins. Moving to the semi final versus the winner of the elimination bracket the girls again faced Merrill/Tomahawk who ended their run with just a 2 pin loss to take 3rd place overall.

This past Sunday the teams were at Watertown North Bowl for a District 6 meet. The boys began the day against a Columbus based mixed school team and did not see the lane very well the entire match. They dug deep and got it done with their backs against the wall winning the decision 5-4. Match 2 versus division rival Oconomowoc ended with a 5-4 match win. The boys jumped ahead of Oconomowoc but are still tied with Watertown for the district lead.

The Girls began the day needing a win versus Watertown to cut down the gap for the division crown. After a tie in game 5 Beaver Dam fell to Watertown 3.5-5.5. Match 2 the girls handily took care of Lomira to win the match 6-3. Their record advances to 4-7, 3 games behind division leader Watertown. Looking to run the table and get some help from the other teams a district crown is still in sight for the girls. Both teams will continue action this Sunday in Lake Mills at Hering’s Fish Bowl.
