Beaver Dam Heads To Menasha For Football Playoff Opener Tonight

The Beaver Dam High School football team heads to Menasha tonight for a WIAA Division Two – Level 1 playoff game in a game you can watch on DailyDodge TV and hear on 1430 ESPN Beaver Dam.

Beaver Dam (8-1), drew the #5 seed in the bracket and is champion of the East Central Conference after finishing with a 5-0 record.  The Golden Beavers only blemish on their regular season schedule was 13-9 defeat Mount Horeb/Barneveld on September 6th.

Running back Josiah Barnes has been the anchor of the Golden Beavers offense this season, rushing for 1384 yards and 14 touchdowns.  Eli Bryant has throw for 1256 yards, 16 touchdowns and three interceptions.   Jeff Freund has 40 catches for 632 yards and 7 TDs. On the defensive side of the ball, Eli Johnson has a team leading four interceptions and Gavin Vitense has collected 2.5 sacks.  Senior Brandon Morrissey has two interceptions, and three forced fumbles.

Menasha (6-3), given a #4 seed by the computer ranking system, was runner-up to Notre Dame in the Fox River Classic Conference – South.  The Blue Jays only defeat in league play was a 21-14 loss at the hands of #1 ranked Notre Dame.   They also dropped their opener to ECC third place finisher Plymouth 34-18 and week 2 to Fox Valley Association champ Neenah. 

Blue Jays QB Logan Liegl has thrown for 826 yards and 12 touchdowns with just three interceptions on his resume.  He’s also run for 520 yards and 7 TDs. Elijah Gigl has run for 1334 yards and 17 touchdowns to lead a powerful Menasha ground attack.   Defensively Jaydon Laser has ten sacks, while Elijah Phillips has nine QB sacks.

Menasha won the 2014 WIAA Division Two State Championship and was the D2 runner-up in 2019.

The Golden Beavers and Blue Jays last played in the 2021 season opener with Menasha picking up a 34-23 victory.

Pregame coverage is set for 6:40pm with the opening kickoff set for 7pm on 1430 ESPN Beaver Dam and DailyDodge TV.
