Beaver Dam Girls Begin Playoff Run Tonight

The Beaver Dam girls basketball team begins their quest for a fourth state championship tonight as they host Hartford in a WIAA Division One Regional Semifinal.

The Golden Beavers finished up their season at 20-2. The Golden Beavers only losses on the season came on the road to Division One #1 Kimberly 53-50 and in overtime at Division Two #2 New Berlin Eisenhower 72-68.  Minnesota State-Moorhead recruit Natalie Jens leads the Golden Beavers in scoring at 16.7 points per game.  Senior Paige Yagodinski is at just under 10 points per contest.  Beaver Dam was ranked 4th in the final Wissports.net Division One Coaches Poll of the season released on Tuesday.

Hartford (16-7) advanced to the Regional Semifinal with a 73-58 win over West Bend East.  The Orioles finished 3rd in the North Shore Conference behind league co-champs Slinger and West Bend West.  Senior Maci Meyer leads the Orioles in scoring at 15 points per game.  She will play NCAA DII college basketball at McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois.

The winner of tonight’s game will face either Slinger or West Bend West in the Regional Final on Saturday.
