Beaver Dam Fire Rescues Duck Hunter Near Waterworks Park

(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Fire Department rescued a duck hunter whose boat capsized Saturday morning. The hunter called 9-1-1 around 5:37am and dispatchers were able to plot the call to an area west of Waterworks Park.

Captain Paul Hartl says upon arrival, the department’s personal watercraft and rescue boat were deployed. The man and his dog were found clinging to the overturned boat approximately 200 yards from Waterworks.

Firefighters were able to successfully remove both the man and his dog from the water, transfer them to the rescue boat and take them to shore. They were transported by paramedics to Marshfield Medical Center in Beaver Dam, where he was treated and released. Beaver Dam Police cared for the dog until the two could be reunited.

Fire Department personnel towed the boat back to shore and removed it from the water. Captain Hartl reminds the public of the importance of wearing a life jacket whenever on or near the water.
