Beaver Dam Fire Department To Have New Dedicated Training Space

(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Fire Department will soon have a dedicated space to train their personnel. The department announced Monday that they have entered into a contract with American Fire Training Systems to construct the new facility.

Fire Chief Michael Wesle says the facility will feature 2,880 square feet of training area, two burn rooms, an assortment of training props, and a four-story tall training tower. He says it will be located at the current Department of Public Works site on the 600 block of South Center Street.

The building will be manufactured in Illinois then delivered to Beaver Dam where it will be assembled. Wesle says preparatory work will begin later this summer and the facility is scheduled to be completed sometime next summer.

He says the department has never had a dedicated training facility. The chief adds that this will allow firefighters to train regularly and be better prepared to serve the needs of the community.
