Beaver Dam Fire Chief Chaperoning Honor Flight

9/8/17 – Beaver Dam Fire Chief Alan Mannel says he is humbled to have been selected to be a chaperone on the next Badger Honor Flight. Forty-four veterans from Dodge County will participate in next week’s trip to the nation’s capital. A plane with 90 veterans will take off from Dane County Airport on September 16 and visit various sites including the Arlington National Cemetery, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Iwo Jima, World War II, Korean, Vietnam, and Air Force monuments. Mannel told the city’s Police and Fire Commission the news at their meeting this week. He went to the orientation two weeks ago and says he was blown away by the organization. Mannel also attended a recent homecoming and says he was amazed by the turnout and says it was very moving. The public is encouraged to greet the veterans at the airport when they return from their day in Washington D.C. Badger Honor Flight returns to the Dane County Airport around 9pm next Saturday.
