Beaver Dam Fills New Community Development Manager Position

(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Common Council Monday night approved filling the new position of Community Development Manager. Two individuals will split the duties of the part-time job: Mary Vogl-Rauscher and Tracy Propst. The economic development role is tasked with attracting new businesses and residents to the city, primarily but not necessarily limited to the downtown. There are 29 hours per-week allotted to the new role with a salary of $21-per hour, funded with monies left over from the reduction of an administrative position to part-time, following a retirement. The contract is for one year-only, requiring council approval for a second year. The vote was eight-to-three. Opponents say the candidates selected were fine but the position itself is redundant with tasks already performed by the Chamber of Commerce and Area Development Corporation, both of which receive at least some funding from the city.
