(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Common Council will cast a vote Monday that could result in a major restructuring of city government. The change would install a City Administrator with the new position tasked with finance and personnel matters. At the same time, the role of mayor would be reduced from full time to part time. The “mayor-common council- administrator” form of government could start as early as January 1 of 2022. With the spring election of 2023, the salary of the mayor would be reduced by two-thirds, from $60-thousand dollars per year to $20-thousand dollars. In addition to approving the change in government, the council would also have to allocate funding as part of the 2022 budget, and then someone would need to be hired, a process that could take several months.
