Beaver Dam Council Approves Changes To Complement Government Restructuring

(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Common Council has approved a series of personnel changes to complement a restructuring of city government. Current Deputy City Clerk Tracey Ferron is now the city clerk. Cheryl Lohry was promoted to deputy clerk. The position of deputy city treasurer is being rebranded as deputy finance manager/deputy city treasurer; Kayla Larson is in that position.

Mayor Becky Glewen says the changes are part of the plan to transition to a city administrator form of government. That includes a previously approved change in the role of mayor, which will be reduced from full-time to part-time with the spring 2023 election. The current job description for the Director of Administration is being reorganized with the bulk of the responsibilities absorbed into the new City Administrator role.

Director of Administrator Zak Bloom is leaving Beaver Dam at the end of this week. The city council Monday night approved the interim hiring of former Director of Administration John Somers until a new City Administrator can be hired.   Glewen is optimistic that should happen by January. She says the current positions changes approved last night will have to be reevaluated on a regular basis to ensure more changes will not be needed.
