Beaver Dam Burglary Suspect Sparks High Speed Chase In Stolen SUV

(Beaver Dam) Authorities engaged a Beaver Dam burglary suspect in a high-speed chase Friday morning. Beaver Dam Police were dispatched to a possible burglary complaint in the 1000 block of Lakeshore Drive around 3am. Chief John Kreuziger says the initial investigation indicates that the homeowner awoke to a dog barking and noticed the garage door open. Officer’s arrived shortly after and confirmed that an unlocked vehicle in the driveway had been rummaged through. The suspect had apparently used the garage door opener to access the garage. Officer’s later located a silver SUV leaving the area at a high rate of speed. The suspect vehicle failed to stop at stop signs and officers engaged in a high-speed pursuit with the vehicle. During the pursuit, it was learned that the vehicle was stolen from Sun Prairie. The pursuit continued down Highway 151, entering the cities of Columbus, Sun Prairie and Madison. Authorities eventually lost the vehicle and ended the pursuit, however, were able to locate the vehicle unoccupied in the city of Madison. The incident is under investigation by the Beaver Dam Police Department. Sun Prairie Police are helping to identify the suspect. Beaver Dam was assisted during the pursuit by the Columbus and Deforest police departments, the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Dane County Sheriff’s Department.
