11/18/17 – The Beaver Dam Area Orchestra is holding their fall concert Saturday night. The name of the concert is “Classical Gems of the Cinema.” Conductor Rich Zeman says typically when the public thinks about the music in movies they think about pieces written for a specific film. The selections featured this evening were written decades and even centuries ago that a director used and has made “iconic” for that specific motion picture. Tonight’s performance includes classical music that has appeared in Apocalypse Now, Raging Bull, Platoon, Ocean’s Eleven, Ten, and Bridge Over The River Kwai. Zeman says, as always, the concert is free to get in but they’ll “charge you to get out,” which is to say that donations will be accepted. Showtime is 7:30pm at the Beaver Dam High School Auditorium. The campus is under construction from the recent referendum that funded an overhaul of the high school. Zeman says a second parking lot recently opened up on the east side of the building off Gould Street, joining another new lot that is northwest of the building off McKinley.
