Beaver Dam Area Community Foundation Awards over $375,000

(Beaver Dam) A local organization has awarded over $375-thousand-dollars to Dodge County non-profits over the last four years. The Beaver Dam Area Community Foundation awards up to $2,500 during their spring and fall grant cycles to eligible non-profit’s to help with programming, technology, supplies, and ongoing agency needs.
The two grant cycles are funded by the Community Fund. This permanent fund seeks to fulfill community needs and advance well-being for all in Dodge County. Tom Heffron, a board member with the Foundation, says the Community Fund combines dollars from generous donors who believe in giving in ways that address ever-changing community needs.
“Beaver Dam and Dodge County have always been extremely generous for a lot of different causes,” says Heffron.
Heffron says the Foundation also has a number of other funds including the donor-advised fund, which offers maximum flexibility for granting with immediate tax benefits.
“We help people, organizations, families, or businesses set up their own fund…so we have right now 55 different funds,” says Heffron. “We also have nine funds with the city of Beaver Dam as well as the city of Fox Lake and Lomira that they can set up their funds and then raise money through those funds.”
Of the $375-thousand, nearly $95-thousand-dollars were funded by the unrestricted Community Fund. The remaining $280-thousand were donor-directed grant awards from individuals or organizations with funds established at the Foundation.
