The Beaver Dam Golden Beavers (7-0) and Monona Grove Silver Eagles (3-5) lift the lid on their season series tonight on the Beaver Dam softball diamond.
The Golden Beavers are fresh off a 4-1 victory over Milton (11-1), the defending conference champions, after scoring three runs in the eighth and final frame last night.
UW-Madison commit Gabby Fakes dealt a gem for the win. The Senior two-way player stayed in the circle for all eight innings of one-run ball. She allowed just four hits while striking out 11 hitters with no walks.
Liv DiStefano led the Beavers at the plate with a 2-for-4 effort and a pair of runs scored.
Pitching has been Beaver Dam’s strength all season long, as they’ve allowed just 11 runs across seven contests. Golden Beaver hurlers have held their opponents to three runs or less in all but one contest.
The Silver Eagles have dropped three straight contests with a 15-5 loss to Milton on Friday being the team’s most recent defeat. Chris Uschan’s squad has established a streaky nature, as this middle of the pack squad won three consecutive games before this recent skid.
Monona Grove didn’t do themselves any favors, as they committed six errors in a matchup that ended after six innings via the run rule.
Bree Loushine went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
Beaver Dam Head Coach Abby Schmitt has her unit alone atop the Badger Large with a 4-0 conference record, while Monona Grove is in 5th place with a 1-1 mark.
The two Badger Large opponents square off at 5 PM with coverage starting at 4:45 PM on Daily Dodge TV.
