BDUSD Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees Honored Tonight

10/6/17 – Three new members will be enshrined in the Beaver Dam High School’s Athletic Hall of Fame Friday night. Three-sport athlete and 1976 graduate Tom Braker participated in football, basketball, and baseball. Braker was a first team all-conference selection multiple times in football and played a key role on the undefeated 1974 team. Braker says he did not expect this honor and that he is flattered they thought of him. Maureen Steil graduated in 1977 and lettered in four sports. Steil qualified for the WIAA Girls State Tennis Tournament in 1976 and was all-conference in basketball and softball in 1977. Steil says it was a thrill when she was notified that she had been selected. She says she was proud to play for Beaver Dam.  The last individual to be inducted is long-time athletics coach and Social Studies teacher Tom Johnson. Johnson coached several track and cross county teams to numerous Wisconsin Little Ten titles over his three decades. Johnson says that he was privileged to coach so many great young athletes and was fortunate to be involved with them. This is the 20th year that the awards are being giving. The honorees will receive plaques during halftime of Beaver Dam’s game against Sauk Prairie. You can listen to that game on 1430WBEV, kickoff is at 7pm and the pregame coverage begins at 6:30pm.
