BDPD Saw Decline In Vehicle Crashes Last Year

(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Police Department has recently released their 2023 annual report which features statistics on crashes in the past year. In 2023, there were a total of 219 crashes. Police Chief John Kreuziger says that the number has been dropping year-over-year.

“We drop that because of the city engineering versus also we have a grant that we go out and use that grant to target problem areas or areas where we see a lot of crashes,” says Kreuziger.

Lieutenant Jeremiah Johnson says he attributes the number of crashes decreasing to engineering improvements.

“It means we’re salting and sanding the roads appropriately,” Johnson says. “We had downtown [Beaver Dam] redone back in 2015 [or] 2016 if I’m not mistaken, where now we have turn lanes.”

Johnson says there were also stop and go lights added so cars could be guided appropriately.
