6/9/11 – Officers with the Beaver Dam Police Department are participating in an event Thursday morning meant to raise awareness and money for the Special Olympics. The Law Enforcement Torch Run brings together police from around the state to help carry the Special Olympics torch north to Stevens Point, where their Summer Games are being held. Police Chief Ronald Smith is among those participating, along with Deputy Chief Dan Schubert, Lt. Joel Kiesow, Detective Heather Johnson and Officer Dan Kuhnz. They are meeting at the Dodge County Courthouse in Juneau at 7am and running or biking to Swan Park in Beaver Dam. At that point a picture of the local participants will be taken to represent the city in the opening ceremonies for the statewide event.
