(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Police Department is putting on a class to help educate the public on how to avoid scammers and frauds. The class is more of a roundtable discussion. Beaver Dam Police Detective Dan Kuhnz says this is not the first time the class has been held.
“We did a lot pre-COVID, then since COVID we’ve done a few,” says Kuhnz. “I’m going to be honest with you, some of the ones that we’ve done, we haven’t had a very good turnout.”
Kuhnz says possibilities for the low turnout could be that people are afraid of acknowledging the existence of scams or afraid to admit they have been victims. He adds that the department is not asking for people to come out and tell their story.
“On November 10th at The Watermark [in Beaver Dam] at 11am, we’re inviting the public out. All you have to do is pre-register at the Watermark,” Kuhnz says. “There’s a free luncheon. We’ll have probably some subs there, and you know, drinks or whatever else, and some snacks.”
Kuhnz says the deadline to register for the class is November 6th.
