BDPD Discusses Establishing Camera Database

(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Police Department is looking for the public’s help in curbing the recent uptick of burglaries. A form is available on the city’s website that allows citizens to submit their name, address and information on any camera’s they have monitoring their property. Sergeant Jeremiah Johnson says the police department is looking to build a database of security cameras. He says if a crime is reported, the individual may be asked to check their cameras to see if there is any suspicious activity. Johnson says the program is entirely volunteer based and the police department would not have authorization to access a person’s security system. He adds the footage helps investigators piece together information when bad things do happen. Johnson says the information that is submitted will remain confidential in their records. More information is on the city’s website at www.cityofbeaverdam.com.
