BDHS’s Smolen To Play Junior Hockey

Beaver Dam High School senior Dan Smolen has signed on to play junior hockey with the Wisconsin Rapids River Kings.  Smolen scored 26 goals and dished off 23 assists in helping the Golden Beavers reach the WIAA Sectional Final for the 1st time since 2005.    The Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings were established in 2014 and play in the USPHL.  Smolen is the 3rd member of this past year’s Beaver Dam boys hockey team to sign with junior hockey squads.  Forward Riley VanderHoeven signed with the Rochester Grizzlies while forward Ben Cremers agreed to play with the New Ulm Steel.
