Every year the Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association honors individuals who give tirelessly of their time and talents to the athletic programs in high schools across the state. At halftime of Thursday night’s Beaver Dam girls basketball game, the school announced that Beaver Dam High School business teacher Mary Helgemoe was selected to win the Distinguished Service Award for WIAA District 6. Helgemoe attends almost every BDHS game as a spectator, game worker or volunteer coach. She does all of this while balancing her family’s sports schedule and teaching classes at BDHS. Helgemoe also still finds time to mentor young coaches and even make locker signs for the girls basketball team. Congrats Mary!
