BDHS’s Cremers & VanderHoeven Head To Junior Hockey

A pair of Beaver Dam High School hockey players have signed up to play junior hockey next season in the NA3HL .  Senior captain Ben Cremers has agreed to play with the New Ulm Steel out of Minnesota.  Cremers wrapped up his senior season with 101 career points.

Junior Riley VanderHoeven has signed a tender to play next season with the Rochester Grizzlies out of Minnesota. VanderHoeven put up a  school record 60 regular season points this year.   During his three years on the varsity in Beaver Dam he scored 92 career points.

Both players had key roles in the Golden Beavers run to the WIAA Division One Sectional Final where they lost to #1 ranked Green Bay Notre Dame 2-0.  It was the 1st time BDHS reached the Sectional Final since 2005.

Almost every player with a desire to play college hockey has to play junior hockey at some level.  Many leave for juniors before graduating from their current high school, while other move on after their high school eligibility is used up.   The NA3HL is considered a tier 3 junior hockey league.   Over 130 players from that league in 2019 went on to play NCAA hockey at either the Division One or Division Three level.
