BDHS Football Has Solid First Practice

The Beaver Dam High School football team hit the practice field for day #1 of the 2022 high school football season in the state of Wisconsin.   After lots of offseason work, BDHS hopes to build off of a 2021 season that saw them qualify for the postseason for the first time since 2017.

“There’s nothing like the official day 1 excitement.” Golden Beaver Head Coach Brock Linde told  “We really liked what we saw out of our kids today.  Not just athletically, but also from a chemistry standpoint and a mentality standpoint.  We’re really pleased with how today went.”

Linde says that numbers continue to rise in his program.

“100 is where we like our program and I think we might be a little bit over that this year, which I think speaks volumes to what people think about Beaver Dam football and the value of playing this sports with our program can give to them with student athletes.”

The Golden Beavers will be without junior running back Gabe Klatt for the entire 2022 season who suffered a season ending knee injury this summer at a football camp in Naples Florida in July.

“He’s on the mend right now and he’s going to come back for his senior year better than ever and more hungry than ever.” Linde said.  “Right now his role takes on a little different shape as he’s coach Klatt for the season.  We are going to rely on him for his leadership and his voice.“

In 2021, Klatt led the Badger North with 1830 yards and 18 touchdowns.  He was a unanimous 1st Team All-Badger Large pick and also earned All-Region Honors via the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association.

“There’s a lot of physical things that I could link to some strengths, but I think the brotherhood of football and the family atmosphere of football is something that this team seems to have already have day one which we are excited to continue to build.”  Linde added.

Beaver Dam will practice for the next two weeks and then head to West Bend for a scrimmage on August 12th
