BDHS BOYS HOCKEY TOPS LEAGUE LEADER WAUNAKEE

The Beaver Dam High School boys hockey team pulled even with Badger East Conference leader Waunakee with a 5-3 road win on Thursday night.

Beaver Dam led 2-1 after the first 17 minutes as Evan Burdchardt scored a pair goals (4:15 & 7:35) around a goal by Wauankee’s David Emerich (4:30). Nate Henning and Mason Poznanski assisted on Burchardt’s 2nd score while Michael Gruetzmacher helped out on Emerich’s score.

The Warriors pulled even at 3:39 of the 2nd when Gruetzmacher scored an even strength goal assisted by Emerich and Schmidt. At 13:55 of the 2nd, Burchardt tallied the Hat Trick with an assist from Brayden Strachota. Waunakee pulled even late in the 2nd as Emerich lit the lamp a 2nd time on the power play at 16:47 with Gruetzmacher and Calvin Behnke garnering assists.

At 15:38 of the 3rd Boston Damon’s power play goal gave BD the lead for good with help from Burchardt and Poznanski. Damon’s short handed goal at 16:30 was finisher for BD.

Beaver Dam’s Henry Vick stopped 31 of 34 shots he faced while Jaxon Birrenkott registed 22 saves on the night.

Beaver Dam and Waunakee both had 18 points in Badger East play.
