(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Fire Department saw a crowd of people in attendance for the pinning ceremony of nine of the departments finest, Tuesday night. Department Chief Michael Wesle said praised offered praise, noting that each one of the honorees have invested a great deal of time and energy into reaching their milestones. He called each person recognized a reflection of their commitment to the department.
Wesle also praised the support system behind the department, saying additional recognition should be given to the families, friends, and mentors. He said the encouragement is invaluable and a key factor in the department’s success.
Those recognized at the ceremony were Brennan Buschke, Anthony Kuenzi, George Anetsberger, Wesley Jahnke, Jake Zemlicka-Retzlaff, Eric Theel, John Jatczak, Corey Braunschweig, and Captain Lee Smith who was promoted to Deputy Chief.
Offering thanks, John Oathout with the city’s Police and Fire Commission spoke to the sacrifice firefighters make. He said they have chosen this profession not for glory or riches. Oathout added the community is proud of the heroes for their accomplishments, saving lives and saving property.
