(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Area Community Theatre is seeking individuals interested in directing a musical, play, or other performance event. The Beaver Dam ACT Show/Event Selection Committee will be looking to meet with potential directors for openings in their productions schedule, with the committee being able to choose productions up to 18 months out, with them currently booking shows through May of 2020.
The Show/Event Selection Committee is especially looking to approve productions specifically in the areas of grades 3-5 for a children’s musical in July, a middle school children’s musical in July, Holiday productions, an early spring 2020 main stage production, as well as open time frames within the months of November 2019, and January, February, and March of 2020.
The selection committee has scheduled 5 meeting dates with written production proposal deadlines. Dates Scheduled for committee presentations are as listed below:
*Sunday, November 11 at 6:30 pm written proposals to Managing Director by Monday, November 5
*Sunday, February 10 at 6:30 pm written proposals to Managing Director by Monday, February 4
*Sunday, April 7 at 6:30 pm written proposals to Managing Director by Monday, April 1
*Sunday, June 2 at 6:30 pm written proposals to Managing Director by Tuesday, May 28
*Sunday, August 25 at 6:30 pm written proposals to Managing Director by Monday, August 19.
Meetings will take place at the BDACT Fine Arts Center located at 117 West Maple Avenue in Beaver Dam. The managing director will help with the proposal process, order perusal scripts, royalties and help plan a potential budget.
Before a production can be approved, a play director must have a producer and stage manager. Musical directors must also have a vocal director, pit conductor and choreographer lined up.
Various stipend amounts are available for directors and other show leadership positions. Directors have the opportunity to earn up to an additional 6% of the show profit.
