BDACT Opening Night: A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum

(Beaver Dam) Its opening night for the Beaver Dam Area Community Theater’s spring play. A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum is an ancient-Roman-themed comedic farce written by Stephen Sondheim in 1962. Kevin Cushing plays the lead role, a slave attempting to earn his freedom by playing matchmaker for his master. Cushing explained for us on WBEV’s Community Comment that hilarity ensues and things fall apart very quickly. There are seven performances on the stage of the new downtown Fine Arts Center, including two matinees, running through May 5. The Fine Arts Center is located at 117 West Maple Avenue. Sunday matinees start at 2pm and regular show times began at 7:30pm. Tickets are $13, $18 and $20 dollars and are available at the community theaters website, www.bdact.org, at Rechek’s Food Pride in Beaver Dam or at the BDACT Box Office, which is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 7pm.
