(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Area Community Theatre has named a new managing director. David Smith is a Beaver Dam-native who got his theatrical start at a young age as part of the very first Tell-A-Tale productions. He is a University of Minnesota theatre alumnus, working with companies in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and California.
Smith replaces David Saniter who left the post in November after 13 years with the community theatre. BDACT Board of Directors President Mike Derr says their search committee undertook a very intensive nationwide effort to secure an exceptional candidate that can help them grow and thrive. He says Smith not only has extensive experience but a solid connection to the success of their programming.
Smith says the board, staff, and volunteers have invested great energy and imagination to grow and expand the theatre to a valuable component of the community. He adds that he is excited to return to Beaver Dam. Smith began his role as managing director Monday.
