BDACT Goes Virtual In ‘The Show Must Go Online’

(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Area Community Theatre has had to cancel virtually all of their summer shows, except for one virtual performance. Kids in the theatre’s Tell-A-Tale youth troupe spent this summer rehearsing and performing in “The Show Must Go Online.” Co-director Judy Pearce says the script came along just as in-person plays started to appear unlikely.

Co-director Andy Estervig says the play will be streamed on YouTube, patched together from scenes shot by Zoom video conference, the same platform used for rehearsals.

The cast of kids ranged in age from eight to 14. There were 36 student actors in total, two-thirds of them appeared virtually via video conference with us on WBEV’s Community Comment.

There are two casts performing the same play, both versions of which hit the internet tonight. The Show Must Go Online can be found on the Beaver Dam Area Community Theatre’s website – bdact.org – and social media pages with the first cast’s show at 6:30pm and the second cast’s performance premiering at 8pm.
