BDACT Curses Play Set For This Weekend

(Beaver Dam) The public is encouraged to attend a play at the Beaver Dam Area Community Theatre this weekend. The show is a culmination of a theatre camp where middle school students learned the elements of theater production including sound, lighting, acting, and set construction. The backstory and plot are very near and dear to Director Deb Meyer’s heart.

“This is personal to me because it was inspired by my grandkids. When they were very young, because of family situations, they moved houses three or four times and schools three or four times.”

She also said that her grandkids started acting uncharacteristically because of the changes.

While the story is aimed at children, and will have plenty of laughs, Beaver Dam Area Community Theatre Managing Director David Alan Smith says the performance also teaches a valuable lesson.

“They’ll also learn something that change isn’t always so bad. Sometimes it’s okay.”

The play “Curses” will be taking place at the theatre Friday, October 21st, through Sunday, October 23rd. Tickets can be purchased in person at the theater’s box office Thursday from 10am to 4pm or online on the theater’s website.
