Bandits 14U Gold Softball Team Is Two Wins From National Championship

The Wisconsin Bandits 14U Gold youth fastpitch softball team based out of Horicon is two victories away from a national championship after picking up a pair of wins on Thursday at the USSSA Select Elite World Fastpitch Championships in Kansas City.

In their first game on Thursday morning, the Bandits edged Iowa Premier National 14U 4-1.  Hilary Blomberg went 1×3 with a pair of RBI in the win.  Beaver Dam’s Gabby Fakes also went 2×3 while Beaver Dam’s Olivia DiStefano scored a run for the Bandits in the win.  In the circle, Fakes gave up just one run and three hits to go along with eight strikeouts to pick up the complete game victory.

Thursday afternoon, the Bandits rallied to defeat Top Gun 05 Navy (MO) 4-2.  After falling behind 2-1 through four-and-a-half innings the Bandits lit up the scoreboard for three runs in the bottom of the 5th.   Karly Meredith went the distance, striking out seven and giving up seven hits and two runs to earn the win.

The Bandits (51-8-3) will play against either Iowa Premier or Top Gun Navy on Friday at 2:45pm in the bracket championship game.  A win by the Bandits would send them to the National Championship Game Friday night at 7:15pm
