(Madison) The public is encouraged to head to Madison Saturday night (5/12) to greet veterans returning from a day in Washington D.C. Madison-based Badger Honor Flight has its second of five flights for the 2018 season today. A plane with 97 veterans left the Dane County Airport Saturday morning. That includes two veterans from World War Two, two Korean War vets and 90 from the Vietnam War along with one veteran who served in both Vietnam and the Gulf War. Once the flight lands, the veterans will spend the day touring various sites including Arlington National Cemetery, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Iwo Jima, World War II, Korean, Vietnam, and Air Force monuments. Upon returning to Madison, Organizer Jim Bublitz encourages the public to arrive at the airport around 8pm tonight and says the flight should land around 9:15 pm. Three Badger Honor Flights will be taking place this fall on September 22, October 13, and November 3. There are 900 vets on the waiting list.
