(Beaver Dam) An upcoming event will give the public an opportunity to support the Badger Honor Flight. The organization sends veterans from the south-central area to Washington D.C. to see the various monuments built in their honor. That includes the Arlington National Cemetery, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Iwo Jima, World War II, Korean, Vietnam, and Air Force monuments. Kay Appenfeldt with the Exchange Club of Beaver Dam invites the community to Tower Lanes this Saturday for a bowling tournament fundraiser that will go towards the October 13 flight. The money will also help pay for purchasing hats, jackets, polo-shirts, goodie bags, a personalized photo and meals for the veterans. Appenfeldt says the Badger Honor Flight best represents the mission of the Exchange Club. She says one of their pillars is patriotism and they search out a organization to utilize their services to make them successful and Badger Honor Flight best fits that goal. The bowling tournament kicks off at 10am and will go until 3pm on September 29. The fundraiser will include 50/50 raffles, meat raffles and a silent auction. A four person team will cost $50 dollars.
