August Traffic Fatalities Lowest Since 2009

9/9/17 – Fifty-two people have died in Wisconsin traffic crashes last month, tying 2009 for the safest August along Wisconsin roadways since World War II. The D-O-T says the preliminary August death toll was five fewer than last years and ten fewer than the five-year average. Three-hundred-96 people were killed on Wisconsin highways during the first eight months of this year, four more than the previous year. Fifty-eight motorcyclists were among those killed, along with 42 pedestrians. In Dodge County, there has been 12 traffic deaths to date. Jefferson, Washington and Columbia counties have each experienced five deaths, Fond du Lac County has had nine fatalities.
