Assembly District 39 Candidates Discuss Health Care On WBEV’s Community Comment

(Beaver Dam) The candidates for State Assembly District 39 discussed the issues with us last week on WBEV’s Community Comment. Among the topics covered was health care. Incumbent Mark Born says there has been positive moment in recent years to improve health care coverage. The Beaver Dam Republican points to bills that were passed that allows for companies to work together to pool resources to drive down costs as well as investments made into reinsurance as another way to bring down insurance costs. Democrat Elisha Barudin of Beaver Dam says the expansion of Medicaid needs to be revisited after Governor Scott Walker denied it. Barudin says if Tony Evers is elected, that issue will be brought back up again to help cover individuals and families with pre-existing conditions.
