Arlene W. Giedd, 89, of Pardeeville passed away on Monday, November 29, 2021.
Arlene Wilmene Bartelt Giedd was born on May 10, 1932, on the family farm in Columbia County in the Township of Randolph to Arthur and Wilhimena “Minnie” (Fenske) Bartelt. Arlene graduated from Cambria High School in 1949. After high school she received nurse’s training to work as a Nursing Assistant at the Lutheran Hospital in Beaver Dam, WI (was later renamed the Beaver Dam Community Hospitals). On April 30, 1955, she was united in marriage with Earl H. Giedd at First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam, WI.
After retirement Earl and Arlene moved to Rome, Wisconsin; at that time she worked on what she enjoyed: quilting, crocheting, quillows, sewing and enjoying her grand-children during seasonal and holiday activities. Over the years she created several items that are cherished by her family and friends. After the death of Earl, Arlene moved to Portage to be near her daughter Brenda.
Arlene will be missed by her children, Jim (Jeni) Giedd, Steve (Susie) Giedd, Brenda Giedd Howland (Bob); grandchildren, Ben Howland (Kelly Maas), Elizabeth Giedd Glans (Matt), Bill Howland (Tomi Clark), Mike (Ashley) Giedd, Chris (Steph) Giedd, and Jeff (Amanda) Giedd; great grandchildren, Niecko Madsen, Zocial Alexander, Silas Howland, and David Glans; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Earl; brother, Bernie (Helen) Bartelt; sisters, Elva Simard and JoAnne (John) Kiel; her in-laws, Millie Giedd, Wilmer (Arline) Giedd, Dorothy (Smokey) Burfeindt, and Ginny (Louie) Podzimek.
A visitation will be held at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Monday, December 6, 2021 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. A time of sharing memories will immediately follow at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Highland Memory Gardens, township of Trenton.
