ARLENE A. GENSCH

Arlene A. Gensch, age 85 of Rolling Prairie, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on January 25, 2018 at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

Arlene Alice was born on October 12, 1932 in the town of Westford, the daughter of Henry and Hertha (Schwandt) Schindel. She was baptized at St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam and confirmed in 1946 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Juneau. In 1950, she graduated from Juneau High School and later that year, on December 23, she was united in marriage to William “Bill” R. Gensch at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Juneau.

Arlene lived most of her life in Horicon. She taught Sunday School for seven years at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Horicon, where she also served on the Finance Committee for four years. Over the years, Arlene worked as the children’s clothing department manager at Bethesda Thrift Shop, a food demonstrator at Curry’s Foods in Horicon and other grocery stores in Beaver Dam, Iron Ridge and Mayville, and also was the first newspaper circulator in Horicon for the Daily Citizen. Throughout all of her work, she always enjoyed being around the people the most. For the last 30 years, Arlene resided in Rolling Prairie, with her loving husband. Her life was devoted to her family. Her hobbies included camping, traveling, going on gambling trips and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Arlene is survived by her husband of 67 years, Bill Gensch of Rolling Prairie; her five children, Dan (Paula) Gensch of Tecumseh, MI, Dave (Judi) Gensch of Neshkoro, Bill (Lorna) Gensch of Princeton, Tom (Rhonda Pollock) Gensch of Mauston and Ann Marie (Greg) Jenswold of Jefferson; 11 grandchildren, Jonathon, Jennifer, David, Emily, Christine, Kelly, William Michael, Justin, Dustin, Matthew, Kiana; 11 great-grandchildren; her sister Betty; sister-in-law Violet Schindel; special niece, Kathi Kielpinski; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 sisters; 2 brothers; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Bonnie and Eddie Kutzke; nephew Richard Schindel; dear friends Mae Schwartz and Margaret Gubin and other relatives.

A memorial gathering for Arlene will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 12:00 p.m. (noon) with Rev. Daniel Seehafer officiating.
