Angelina “Angie” O. Johnston, of Brandon, took her beloved husband’s hand and passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at the Waupun Christian Home.
Angie was born on October 5, 1933 in Fond du Lac, the daughter of the late Emil and Elsie (Rakow) Zimmermann. She was a 1951 graduate of Brandon High School. She continued her education at UW-Madison and received her bachelor’s degree from UW-Oshkosh. On December 19, 1960, Angie married James L. Johnston in Waupun. The couple resided in the Brandon area most of their married lives. Angie taught elementary school in the Waupun School District at various elementary schools, retiring from Jefferson Elementary after 32 years. Angie was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church of Brandon.
Angie enjoyed the simple things in life: cats, massive amounts of chocolate, chicken nugget Happy Meals, chocolate shakes, sunflowers, hugs, and spending time with those she loved.
Angie is survived by three children: Jennifer Johnston of Ripon, Nathan (Mary) Johnston of Green Lake, and Amy Johnston of Brandon; five grandchildren: Rachael (Karl) Peschke of Brandon, Matthew (Kelsey) Johnston of Ripon, Benjamin Johnston of Plymouth, Olivia Johnston of Fond du Lac, and Cody Johnston (special friend, Alyssa Nitzke) of Green Lake; two great granddaughters: Kinzley Peschke of Brandon and Raelyn Johnston of Ripon; and two nieces: Kristin Johnston of Michigan and Karla Johnston-Krase of North Carolina. She is further survived by very special friends: Audrey Jahns, Buck Mertens, Barb and Gary Klawitter, Rich and Lois Ely, Maurice Ely, Denise Belmer, and Janice Ott.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James, in 2005; and a grandson, Adam Ryan Johnston, in 1994.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Highland Memory Gardens in the town of Trenton with Chaplain Dennis Overlien officiating.
Memorials in Angie’s name can be directed to either the Waupun Animal Shelter or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Center.
