Andrew “Andy” Sproule

Andrew “Andy” Sproule, 77, of Beaver Dam, died on April 22nd at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, WI, as a result of heart and kidney failure. Andy was born January 30, 1947, in Galena, IL, and moved with his family to Beaver Dam during his childhood. He was a 1965 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. After an early career in construction and home remodeling, he launched Garage Door Specialist, a business which he ran for nearly 30 years, and passed on to his son with his retirement.

Andy remained a long-time resident of Beaver Dam and had a love for auto racing, politics and history. He also had a strong taste for soul and funk music, enjoying the performances of some of his favorites throughout his lifetime: Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, James Brown, Prince, Chaka Khan, Janet Jackson, Snoop Dogg and Lizzo.

After the unfortunate amputation of his leg in 2018, resulting from a knee surgery complication,  Andy showed resolve and determination to remain mobile and continue doing the things he enjoyed in life: attending concerts, family reunions and auto racing events. Andy also loved to talk about his children and grandchildren, and retell the many stories in his family history.

He is survived by his children, Jeff Sproule and Tammy (Joe) Kaplan, his former spouse, Janet (Derek) Orr, grandchildren, Brittany Sproule, Joey Sproule, Leo Kaplan and Iris Kaplan, and brother, Michael Sproule.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lee Sproule and Alice Larey.
