American Hero’s Festival Headliner Rained Out

Rain forced the cancellation of the headliner of the American Hero’s Music Festival at Swan Park in Beaver Dam last night. The event is dedicated to first responders, veterans and their families. USO entertainer Joe Cantafio had to sideline his 101st Division Band but took an acoustic guitar into a concession stand for an intimate hour-long sing along. Cantafio helped organize the event along with the Exchange Club of Beaver Dam. The festival was inspired by the loss of Joe’s cousin Ryan Cantafio, who

was killed in Iraq on Thanksgiving in 2004. Ryan’s mother Sandy Hautamaki and her brothers are in the band Alexis, which was the final electric performance in the band shell last night. The families of other Gold Star families were also on hand throughout the two-day event, including the families of Kirk Straseskie and Jacob Gassen of Beaver Dam and David Johnson of Mayville.
