Alliant Energy Announces Fond Du Lac Solar Garden Is Now Operational

(Fond du Lac) Alliant Energy has announced the 1-megawatt Fond du Lac community solar project is now operational. This is the utility’s first community solar garden to generate energy for the power grid.

President of Alliant Energy’s Wisconsin Utility David de Leon says the Fond du Lac garden is the first of what is expected to be multiple community solar locations across the state as well as Iowa. He says they are excited to offer new options that benefit their customers and strengthen the communities they serve.

Customers can purchase solar blocks in the garden, to cover up to 100% of their energy use. The clean, renewable energy helps power the community, and participating customers receive a bill credit each month for supporting the project. The solar garden is fully subscribed but people can join a waitlist in the event existing subscribers leave the program or a new community solar garden is built.
