(Herman) A blown motorcycle tire caused serious injuries and closed both lanes of Highway 33 for nearly two hours Saturday afternoon. Just after 3pm, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office were notified of the accident near County Highway AY in the township of Herman. The initial investigation, showed that a motorcycle traveling eastbound on Highway 33 lost control when the rear tire blew, ejecting both occupants from the bike. The driver, a 58-year-old man from Beaver Dam, sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries and was flown by Med-Flight to UW Hospital in Madison. The passenger, a 46-year-old woman from Beaver Dam, sustained serious life-threatening injuries and was also flown by a second Med-Flight to UW Hospital. Both occupants were not wearing helmets. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash. The sheriff’s office says names of those involved will not be released at this time. The Wisconsin State Patrol says the crash was cleared and both lanes of Highway 33 reopened at 4:43pm. Assisting at the scene was the Iron Ridge Fire and First Responders, Allenton Fire and EMS, West Bend Paramedics, Beaver Dam Paramedics and two UW Med-Flight helicopters.
