Aid To Scholarship Athletes Could Increase

10/15/11 – A committee head by Penn State’s president is working on a plan that would give athletic aid to scholarship athletes as early as next school year. An official at the University of Wisconsin-Madison says student-athletes at that school and other Division I NCAA programs could receive an additional 15 hundred to two thousand dollars a year. A proposal could be sent to the NCAA as soon as next month. Big Ten Commission Jim Delany has been a supporter of the idea of increasing the amount of aid to scholarship athletes to match to total cost of their education. The idea was first brought up last spring.
