Ad-Hoc Committee To Discuss Future Of Rolling Meadows Golf Course

(Fond du Lac) An ad-hoc committee will begin discussing the future of the Fond du Lac County-owned Rolling Meadows Golf Course. County Executive Sam Kaufman says about 50 people attended a recent gathering of the County Board’s UW-Extension Education, Agriculture, and Recreation Committee at the Rolling Meadows Golf Course meeting room.

He says they heard some good comments from the public and the committee gave the go ahead to have him approach County Board Chairperson Steve Abel about forming an ad-hoc committee. Over time, the golf course has accrued nearly $2.6-million-dollars in debt and would have operated at a deficit last year without the subsidizing of sales tax money.

Kaufman says the committee will consider raising fees, possibly building a clubhouse that could be open year-round for events, and other ideas. He says no decision will be reached in haste because the golf course provides quality of life for county residents.
