(Dodge County) An area program that provides local kids in need with a Christmas gift saw a successful 2023 campaign.
The initiative, called A Child’s Smile, provided a Christmas for 1,461 public school and home school children from 690 families in Dodge, Jefferson, Washington, and Waukesha counties.
Organizers say 100-percent of the $73,050 received from community donations was converted to Walmart gift cards. They add that roughly $2,200 wroth of both hand knitted and store bought caps and mittens were also donated.
In total, 51 kids from 34 different families in the Beaver Dam School District benefited from the effort. In the Horicon School District, 97 kids from 35 families were provided a Christmas from A Child’s Smile.
In the Dodgeland School District, 105 kids from 42 families received a gift.
