Gabby Wilke Commits To South Dakota

Beaver Dam High school junior Gabby Wilke verbally committed to play college basketball at NCAA Division One University of South Dakota over the weekend.  

“Coach Kayla (Karius) has been recruiting me ever since she was at Wisconsin and my sister (Maty Wilke) committed to her there. ” Wilke told DailyDodge.com. “Then she went to Drake and recruited me. When she went to South Dakota she offered me there and I just kind of new right from my first visit this was a special place and I wanted to go there. “

The University of South Dakota made a historic run into the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament last year, knocking off Ole Miss and Baylor before falling to Michigan. Sheboygan native, and former University of Wisconsin assistant Kayla Karius is in her first year as head coach of the Coyotes. South Dakota competes in the Summit League.

During her sophomore campaign Wilke averaged 16 points, 5 rebound and 3 assists per game on her way to a unanimous 1st Team All-Badger East Conference selection.
