(Bryon) Fond du Lac County authorities are asking the public’s help in solving a residential burglary in the Town of Bryon. A resident on County Highway F reported Monday that a man had broken the back door of her house, entered, and then fled after realizing the home was occupied.
The suspect’s vehicle was identified as a red Chrysler 200 and was spotted a short time later by a deputy, sparking a 10-mile chase. Due to the vehicle driving into oncoming traffic, the pursuit was terminated. Calumet County authorities eventually located the vehicle abandoned after it turned up on video surveillance at a gas station in Shiocton.
A canvas of the area near the original home invasion turned up another potential victim. This person reported that the same car pulled into their driveway and a man was asking for directions. Sheriff’s officials are asking for help in locating any security footage of the suspect vehicle.
They are also asking nearby residents to check their homes for items missing. The suspects are believed to locate rural homes which appear unoccupied, knock on the door and when no one answers, force entry to steal valuables. Anyone with information is asked to call the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office at 920-929-3384 or 920-929-3380.
