The Cambria-Friesland football team is working hard as they get ready for their 2021 season opener.
Last season the Hilltoppers played their way through the pandemic to win four out of five games, including a level one playoff contest. Their Level Two game was cancelled because of COVID.
The Hilltoppers have 24 boys out for football this season, which is over 60% of the boys in school. They return a pair of All-Trailways Conference players led by 1st Team all-league pick Drake Burmania. He caught ten passes for 197 yards and three touchdowns in 2020. Honorable Mention All-Trailways running back Owen Jones also returns after rushing for 471 yards and six touchdowns in five games last Fall.
“We have some very good skill people coming back and some good foundational lineman.” Veteran coach Jim Bylsma told DailyDodge.com. “Once the coaches figure out the pieces to the jigsaw puzzle we will be a very competitive football team.”
It was also announced this summer that long time Cambria-Friesland assistant coach Scott Wotruba will be inducted into the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2022.
The Hilltoppers open their season on August 20th when they host Pardeeville.
Cambria-Friesland’s game at Dodgeland on August 27th will be broadcast live on DailyDodge TV.
